Scott family from Dunkeld, Scotland and Ashmore from Dover, Kent
My great great grandfather, John Craig SCOTT, emigrated to Australia before 1851 and settled in Creswick, Victoria. His brother, Alexander, also lived in Creswick. According to Victorian records, he was born at Dunkeld, Scotland in about 1826 and his parents were Alexander SCOTT, a forester or steward, and his mother Margaret LAMB. I have not been able to find these parents, however, a John C. SCOTT was baptised at Dunkeld in 1827, born 12 December 1826 and the son of John SCOTT and Janet STEWART. One of John's sons was Henry Ashmore SCOTT, my great grandfather, who was a carriage builder in Camberwell and Hawthorn.

John Craig SCOTT married Susan ASHMORE who had been born in Dover, Kent. Other names in the ASHMORE branch include MARSH, CLARINGBOLD and SLADDEN.
This branch is included in charts of descendants of Alexander SCOTT and Margaret LAMB and George ASHMORE.
